Chelsey.
You know those people you meet who instantly radiate kindness and selflessness, while making you feel completely seen in the process? Let me introduce you to Chelsey, the very definition of what I just wrote. Chelsey is one of my best friends, and it has happened so quickly! You would never believe that we just met in September… I can’t even believe it! She is one of the wonderful ladies in my life group and I wanted to take some time to shine a light on her and the sparkle she brings to life. (Marian is my other life group sis and she will be getting a special shout out next week, as well!) My blog, as those of you who follow along know, is faith centered. I wanted a space to write about faith, my life journey of faith, and noteworthy experiences that shape my faith. Experiences often include people, and Chelsey is one of those people that in such a short time, has been such a blanket of security for me, in so many ways.
There are definitely a LOT of people surrounding me at all times, whether I be at work, at events and activities with my kiddos, or attending church events. In the midst of being surrounded by so many people, you can start to feel small. Feeling small in a group of people is a feeling that I don’t wish on anybody, but it happens, and when those feelings arise, it is hard to talk yourself out of it. I was feeling that pretty recently over some stuff I’m not ready to share, but the one consistent thing I experienced throughout my hard time was Chelsey being there any time, any day, to reassure me, speak truth over me, and see me. That was all I really needed at the time- to feel seen and heard. Through this unfortunate emotional journey, I got to not only see how Chelsey is an amazing friend, that anyone would be lucky to have in their circle, but I also got to see how amazing Chelsey is on her own, outside of just our friendship.
Let me introduce you to possibly the biggest advocate for inclusion that may exist. Chelsey is professionally involved with friends who have disABILITIES and need some extra attention from time to time, in their educational journey. This, I assure you, is not something that she does for herself or just during her 9-5, no no no, this is part of her lifestyle. I am fairly confident in saying that most of us are probably loving and tend to have a soft spot for our special friends, but Chelsey takes it a step further- actually, 20 steps further- and is full time advocating for friends, repping merch from beloved small businesses that make inclusion tees and accessories, using inclusive wrapping paper at Christmas time that shows different friends with disABILITIES and sign language Merry Christmas designs, the whole nine yards. She may or may not have inspired me to also get some tee shirts and wrapping paper that are kinda exactly like hers. And I may or may not be taking up learning sign language in the new year. All because of the inspiration that Chelsey is. She shows spark and passion in all that she does, and you can not help but fall in love with her warmth. (If you are someone reading this who by some long shot knows Chelsey and you feel anything other than love for her, I assure you, you are most likely the problem. Let’s pray about that.)
Fun stuff aside, Chelsey truly does have the best heart I have ever seen. She is that friend that remembers the little things and consistently shows up to reassure you that you are seen and valuable. Chelsey is such a Godly influence that shows the heart of our Lord in all her words and actions. I am so grateful that God placed her in my life, especially at the time that He did.
Please get yourself a Chelsey. Just not mine! HAHA!!
XOXO,
Tay
